Minister of the Public Service Commission Sandy Silver has issued the following statement:
“National Volunteer Week takes place from April 27 to May 3, 2025. This year’s theme, Volunteering Makes Waves, highlights the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts across Canada.
“The impact from volunteers reaches all corners of our communities and across the Yukon. Their dedication allows Yukoners to enjoy musical, cultural and sporting events, such as the Terry Fox Run, the Ride for Dad and Canada Day celebrations. Volunteers help preserve our history and character through the work of organizations like the Yukon Historical and Museums Associations. Further, they help keep us safe through the work of Yukon Search and Rescue, community volunteer fire departments and volunteer emergency medical responders in Yukon communities.
“Please join me in celebrating and thanking all the volunteers who help shape the Yukon into a strong, vibrant and compassionate territory. Through their generosity, they lift others up and strengthen the very fabric of our Yukon communities. We are deeply grateful for all that they do.”
