Statement from Premier Pillai on Canadian Multiculturalism Day

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“In the Yukon, we have the privilege of hosting a remarkable tapestry of cultures, each contributing their unique traditions, languages and perspectives. Our territory is home to 14 Indigenous nations, as well as settlers, newcomers and members of various communities, all of whom play an integral role in shaping our shared identity.

“The Canadian Day of Multiculturalism provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the values that underpin our society – equality, diversity and unity. It is a time to appreciate the benefits of multiculturalism and foster deeper connections among Yukoners, embracing the cultural mosaic that makes the Yukon a truly exceptional place to live, work and thrive.

“I am immensely proud of the Yukon’s multicultural spirit and the countless ways our residents embrace and celebrate diversity. It is through these shared experiences and exchanges that we gain a deeper understand of one another, breaking down barriers and fostering an environment of harmony and mutual respect.”
