Statement from Premier Pillai on the Global Affairs Canada diplomatic tour

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Over the weekend, I had the privilege of welcoming more than 30 ambassadors and high commissioners to Canada as part of Global Affairs Canada’s northern diplomatic tour. The delegation included representatives from countries such as Kosovo, the Dominican Republic, Germany and New Zealand.

“I was honoured to welcome this delegation alongside numerous First Nations and municipal leaders from across the Yukon. Together, we had the opportunity to share the stories of the land and showcase all that the Yukon has to offer.

“These connections pave the way for new partnerships, create deeper connections, explore future opportunities, and, most importantly, foster meaningful people-to-people ties. Now more than ever, we need to continue forging relationships with partners from around the world -relationships rooted in mutual respect, shared goals and a commitment to collaboration.

“The Yukon has long been contributing to global conversations from climate action and sustainable development to cultural exchange and innovation. As those conversations grow in urgency and importance, we must continue to show up, share our perspectives and strengthen our role on the world stage.”
