Statement from Premier Pillai on meetings with B.C. Premier and Minister

Premier Pillai

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with B.C. Premier David Eby and B.C. Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship Nathan Cullen.

“Premier Eby and I discussed renewable energy and our ongoing work to explore the potential interconnection of the Yukon and B.C. electrical grids. We also shared perspectives on the recruitment and retention of health care personnel, dual-use infrastructure and Arctic security and sovereignty. I look forward to further dialogue with Premier Eby in the coming months and will be pleased to welcome him to the territory when western Premiers meet in Whitehorse this summer.

“My conversation with Minister Cullen focused on critical minerals, climate change and renewable energy projects that power our communities and contribute to responsible resource development.

“We are fortunate to have a strong relationship with our neighbours in British Columbia and will continue to advance common goals that promote the wellbeing of both B.C. and the Yukon.”
