Statement from Premier Pillai on the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism

Premier Ranj Pillai has issued the following statement:

“Today, flags on Government of Yukon buildings across the territory are flying at half-mast to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.

“First proclaimed in 2005, today is an opportunity to honour those who have lost their lives through acts of terror in Canada and around the world. As Yukoners, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow Canadians, united in remembrance, as we solemnly reflect upon the lives that were cut short.

“This occasion is a reminder that violence and hatred have no place in the Yukon. It is that simple, and it is our collective responsibility to continue forging a path forward that embraces diversity, champions equality, and upholds the values that bind us as a country.

“Together, let us embrace the memories of those we have lost and draw inspiration from their lives. Their spirit will guide us as we chart a course towards a brighter, more compassionate future, one where the echoes of terrorism are replaced by the resounding chorus of unity and peace."
