Leaders representing Yukon First Nations, the Council of Yukon First Nations and the Government of Yukon endorsed a declaration at today’s Yukon Forum in Carcross.
The Yukon Forum Declaration sets out shared commitments to strengthen government-to-government relationships, support effective collaboration and advance good governance for the benefit of all Yukoners.
Leaders also discussed shared strategic priorities and how to advance them, including legislative and fiscal priorities and improving health outcomes of Yukoners, especially in rural communities. Leaders considered coordinated federal engagement on territorial priorities such as critical energy infrastructure improvements and firearms.
The Yukon Forum brings together strong governments with a shared responsibility to serve Yukon citizens and communities. I was pleased to sign today’s declaration recognizing that the Yukon is strongest when we work as partners. Through mutual respect, accountability and cooperation, we can turn discussion into collective action that delivers results for all Yukoners.
Today’s declaration is an important commitment to how we work together. The Yukon Forum provides a valuable space for Yukon First Nations and the Government of Yukon to come together, strengthen relationships and advance shared priorities. This declaration gives us a framework to move those priorities forward and create meaningful outcomes for Yukon First Nations citizens and communities.

The Yukon Forum is a meeting of the political leaders of the Government of Yukon, Yukon First Nations governments and the Council of Yukon First Nations.

The Yukon Forum was established in 2005 under the Cooperation in Governance Act and aims to convene four times a year.
