Yukon Public Libraries launches Summer Reading Passport

Yukon Public Libraries are pleased to launch the inaugural Summer Reading Passport program. This made-in-Yukon initiative encourages young readers and families to keep reading and create opportunities for them to connect with library spaces and staff throughout the summer.

The program is aimed at youth ages three to 12, but anyone of any age can receive a Summer Reading Passport from one of 15 Yukon Public Libraries.

Participants will fill their passport with their reading goals and share them with library staff. They can record the books they read in their reading passport, and when they return a book, library staff will stamp their passport.

Passport holders who reach their reading goals will receive a medal at events hosted by Yukon Public Libraries before school restarts in August.

Quick facts
  • The Summer Reading Passport program will begin when school lets out for summer break and wraps up when students go back to school.

  • Summer is a busy time for Yukoners, with many enjoying time on the land or travelling, making the passport a fun and flexible way to stay connected to local libraries throughout the season.

  • The passport encourages people to explore the Yukon’s many libraries.

  • The passport is available in English and French.
