The Government of Yukon is committed to supporting the safe use of e-scooters and other electric devices across the territory. As use of these devices grows, the Government of Yukon wants to better understand Yukoners’ experiences, concerns and priorities for safe use.
Yukoners can share their experiences with these devices by completing a survey at engageyukon.ca. The survey will be open until November 30, 2026. The engagement aims to gather feedback to inform whether the government should consider any initiatives to make these devices safer for Yukoners.
There is currently no Yukon-wide regulation of e-scooters or other electric micromobility devices. We recognize that e-scooters and other electronic devices can provide convenient, affordable and accessible transportation options, and more Yukoners are choosing to use them. Your feedback will help us determine how we can promote safe use of these devices.
E-scooters and other electric mobility devices are changing how people get around in our communities. We want to hear from Yukoners about their experiences and concerns and what they think is needed to support safe use as these transportation options become more common.
-
Electric micromobility devices include e-scooters, hoverboards, electric unicycles, electric skateboards and other similar devices.
-
The Yukon’s current Motor Vehicles Act does not regulate e-scooters as a distinct vehicle type.
-
Different laws and bylaws may apply depending on the type of device and where it is used. The City of Whitehorse regulates e-scooters, e-bikes and e-mobility devices within Whitehorse through its E-Bike Regulation Bylaw.
