Find out about the health behaviours and experiences of young Yukoners

Every 4 years, Yukon students in Grade 6 to 10 complete a survey. This survey relays their feelings and experiences on health-related topics.

The study was completed in Yukon schools in 2010, 2014 and 2018.

The Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study considers mental and physical health of young Yukoners. It asks about behaviours such as:

  • substance use;
  • injuries;
  • bullying;
  • sedentary behaviour;
  • healthy eating;
  • physical activity; and
  • sleep.

The information collected from the study helps professionals to develop programs that support Yukon youth.

Researchers from Queen’s University analyze the data and share 2 reports.

  • students in Whitehorse to those in rural Yukon; and
  • students who identify as male to those who identify as female.

This survey also collects information and data from non-binary students. This information is kept confidential to protect their privacy.
