Apply for a rebate for a new medium or heavy duty zero-emission commercial vehicle

The Good Energy Program offers rebates for new medium or heavy duty zero-emission commercial vehicles purchased by organizations, businesses, First Nations governments and municipal governments.

Eligible vehicles

Vehicles must be:

  • new;
  • used as a commercial vehicle;
  • class 2B or above with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 3856kg or more;
  • registered in the Yukon; and
  • purchased by an eligible applicant.

To be considered a commercial vehicle, the vehicle model must either:

  • have a seating capacity of 9 passengers or more; or
  • have a full width cargo area (for example, a pick-up truck box or bed) of at least 185 cm in horizontal interior length.

Vehicles that do not meet the seating capacity or cargo area size requirement may be eligible for the passenger electric vehicle rebate.

You can purchase your vehicle in the Yukon or import it.

Eligible applicants

Organizations and businesses registered in the Yukon are eligible for up to 10 rebates per calendar year. This includes First Nations governments and municipal governments.

Rebate amount

$10,000 for a new medium or heavy-duty vehicle which is class 2B or above with a GVWR of 3856kg or more.

If you have a lease, your rebate will be pro-rated on the length of the agreement. You'll receive the full rebate if your lease is 3 years or more.

At the time of purchase

You may get the rebate automatically when you purchase your vehicle from a local dealership. If you're a dealer in the Yukon, you can download the vendor application form.

After your purchase

If you did not receive the rebate from the vendor, you can apply directly to us. 

Your receipts and invoices must be dated within 1 year of submitting your rebate application.

Facts on zero-emission vehicles

  • Zero-emission vehicles have fewer parts and require less maintenance on average than conventional cars.
  • Despite reduced range in colder temperatures, zero-emission vehicles are suitable for daily winter driving. They may offer better traction and torque than a similar conventional vehicle in winter conditions.
  • There is a variety of options and ranges of zero-emission vehicles including cars, trucks, minivans, cargo vans, and large trucks.
  • We're investing in increasing the number of fast charging stations across the territory.
