We’re excited to share the updated Yukon open government portal, available online at open.yukon.ca. The redesigned portal runs on the open-source CKAN software, used by governments around the world. It includes all of the publications and datasets that were available on the previous version of the portal.
You can search for open government publications here, and search for open data datasets here. You can also find completed Access to Information requests and Privacy Impact Assessment summaries that are part of the Access to Information Registry.
The new portal homepage lets you quickly search for publications, datasets, and completed Access to Information requests. And, you can see at a quick glance when new publications and Access to Information requests have been published.
On the search pages, you can filter by publisher (a Yukon government department or corporation), by format, by topic, and by keyword (or by any combination of these). Advanced users can also use the CKAN API to search for publications, to retrieve data, and to download resources.
You can read more about the benefits of the CKAN software upgrade in the previous post. And, you can learn more about the Yukon’s open government program here.
CKAN provides a lot of helpful tools that make it easier to publish and update datasets and publications. This includes API features to automatically update data on a regular basis, and integrations with data management tools like R Studio (using the ckanr package) and FME (using the CKANConnector transformer).
If you’re a Yukon government employee interested in publishing data (or updating previously-published data from your department), we’d love to hear from you! Send an email to [email protected] anytime.
We’re looking forward to your feedback on the updated open government portal. Try it out today! You can use the “Submit website feedback” link at the bottom right of every page on the portal to send feedback to our team. Thanks for helping us improve the portal.
