We got the news of Greg's passing on October 21. The news was not unexpected. Greg had been battling cancer for the past 6 months, but the news he was truly gone felt like a dagger through the team's collective heart.
When you do the type of work we do and you're a small team - you bond quickly. When someone is on holidays or away from the office their physical presence is missed equally to their professional contributions. We now know how it feels to know we'll never see that person again. Greg's passing has left a hole in our team.
During Greg's treatments he was still engaged with the team, he managed his portfolio and he was a constant on Slack. He was still offering advice and sharing in team news. He responded to texts and was open to visits from the team.
Since his passing, we've been processing the loss. We pause to share moments of grief, we support each other and gove space when needed. We're setting up a staff lunch at a local restaurant and we've commissioned a glass husky we'll keep in the office in his honour. We're also looking at naming the boardroom in his honour.
On behalf of the team, I'd like to thank everyone who has taken time to express their condolences, checked in on the team or shared a story about Greg. He was a wonderful colleague, dear friend and an absolute legend.
