Out of cell phone service area
Cell phone service is not available everywhere in the Yukon. If you are outside cellular range, use a landline to call 9-1-1 or a satellite phone to call 867-668-9911.
Telephone service disruptions
If telephone service is disrupted or inconsistent, and you experience an emergency:
- First try calling 9-1-1. Depending on your location, and the timing of the outage, your call may go through.
If you cannot reach 9-1-1, for a medical emergency:
- Phone the 4444 local number for the health centre, from a landline if possible, or try the black phone at your local health centre;
- Approach an emergency vehicle on patrol for assistance; or
- Consider driving to Whitehorse General Hospital or your closest community hospital in Dawson City or Watson Lake.
For police:
- Report to the nearest RCMP station or detachment; or
- Approach an emergency vehicle on patrol for assistance.
Service disruptions in Whitehorse
In Whitehorse, you can get help at the Whitehorse General Hospital, the RCMP detachment on 4th Avenue, and both Whitehorse fire halls (Fire Hall #1, 105 Black Street, and Fire Hall # 2, at the Public Safety Building, 305 Range Road at the top of Two Mile Hill).
