About Government of Yukon backcountry campgrounds and recreation sites

We maintain 10 backcountry campgrounds, 2 day-use backcountry recreation areas and one cabin accommodation. These sites have limited facilities and can be accessed by foot, air or water.

Camping season

Camping season for backcountry sites is generally late June to mid-September, subject to terrain, wildlife and weather conditions. Some may be accessible in winter. Special restrictions apply for the Tombstone backcountry sites.
