Learn about Breaking Trail Together

Breaking Trail Together is a 10-year plan (2019–29) by the Government of Yukon and Yukon First Nations. The plan sets out to create a public service that reflects the Yukon’s diverse communities. It works to remove barriers, support reconciliation and promote equity, cultural safety and inclusion. Breaking Trail Together puts the Yukon on a path to be a leader in inclusive governance.

Why Breaking Trail Together matters

The plan meets commitments under Chapter 22 of the Yukon First Nation Final Agreements. It ensures Yukon First Nation people are represented in the public service. It also works to advance reconciliation, remove systemic barriers and build respectful, collaborative relationships.

A public service that reflects the Yukon's people can better understand and serve Yukoners. Including Yukon First Nation perspectives builds trust, improves services and creates stronger workplaces. It shows our legal and ethical commitment to diversity and equity.
