Can you bring personal items to an inmate?
If an inmate wants you to drop off a personal item at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre, they must get written approval from the deputy superintendent.
What are personal items
- Religious items
- Prescription eye glasses
- Hearing aids
- Dentures
- Wedding rings (with a smooth finish only)
- Photographs
- Correspondence such as:
- letters; and
- cards.
- Medical items (authorized by the manager of Medical Services at Whitehorse Correctional Centre)
- Reading material
Please note: No personal item(s) will be accepted at reception without the prior written authorization from the deputy superintendent.
Personal clothing
Inmates have to wear the clothing they are issued. Visitors may bring clothes for the inmate to wear for going to court.
