eServices for Citizens leads the government’s charge to modernize digital service delivery to the public. We partner with department teams to design and deliver digital services that are simple and fast and strive to improve the user experience.

Departments own these services, and we write these blog posts so you can see what we’re working on, what stage projects are in and when we plan to launch them.

Citizen engagement platform

We are in the process of adopting a new platform for citizen engagements, Social Pinpoint.

We'll soon complete the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and Security and Threat Risk Assessment (STRA) and expect departments to start using the platform for public engagements in August.

Departments will use the platform to communicate engagement opportunities to the public using tools and methods the public expect when they provide their input.

Email newsletters and notifications

We launched a platform called Envoke this past winter. Since that time several departments have begun using it to create content on a variety of topics. You can subscribe to these newsletters now and there are more on the way.

Wildland Fire email newsletter

Get the latest updates on wildland fires in the Yukon sent directly to your inbox. See how you can subscribe to the Wildland Fire email newsletter

InFARMation

Agriculture Branch staff have reimagined and revived the beloved InFARMation newsletter. This was a quarterly publication they shared as a PDF attachment to their email list. Now the newsletter is digital and they're offering two ways for people to consume the content.

  • InFARMation 2.0. These issues go out twice a year and they will be packed with agriculture-related news and events.
  • InFARMation Bites. To make sure you don't miss out on agriculture news and events you can also subscribe to InFARMation Bites. These are shorter newsletters that will go out more frequently. They will also include land release notifications. See how you can subscribe to InFARMation and/or InFARMation Bites.

Online forms

There have been quite a few updates on the online forms scene. Since the last update we’ve had staff portfolio changes, we’re in the process of hiring another forms designer, we learned a lot from the pilot projects and we’ve worked with departments to deliver quite a few online forms. These are a few of the forms we've launched so far.

Expression of Interest to Yukon Nominee Program

This online form is for business owners to let the immigration team know they would like to participate in the program. The number of available spots has been reduced so rather than have business owners fill out all of the paperwork and not be selected, they can complete an expression of interest. Then if they are selected, they can complete the full application.

This form is only visible during an intake, but you can learn about the process here.

Invite the premier to an event

People can use this online form to invite the premier to attend an event. See the online form.

Youth Investment Fund

Yukon organizations will soon be able to apply to the Youth Investment Fund using an online application. This fund provides financial support to short-term projects aimed at youth under 19 with fewer opportunities or who experience a form of discrimination.

The Youth Directorate expect to start using the online form in advance of their next intake. Learn more about the Youth Investment Fund.

Open government

The open government site has undergone quite a bit of work and it's now fully migrated to CKAN. You can read the blog post to learn more about this project and its launch.

Websites

Boards and committees

You can currently see all boards and committees with vacancies on Yukon.ca. The new service will allow people to get notifications, and apply online. This winter the team completed their Discovery/Alpha service maturity assessment and they are working on implementing requirements. They plan to launch this iteration of the service before the end of the fiscal year.

Health system transformation website

We’re working with Health and Social Services to develop a website that will provide updates on the transformation of our health system. This site will replace the current campaign page and involves stakeholders such as First Nations governments and the Yukon Hospital Corporation.

Legislative Assembly website

We’re working with Legislative Assembly staff to improve their website. Our goals are to dial in search results and improve the user experience on the French pages. Visit the Yukon Legislative Assembly website.

Quitpath

The Quitpath website supports people who are looking to reduce or quit using commercial tobacco products. Earlier this summer the team finished working with a designer to create prototypes and they’re now building the new website and implementing the new design as a Drupal website.

Site exploration for the Dawson City sewage lagoon

The Dawson City sewage lagoon website launched in February. It provides background on the project, information about sewage lagoons, updates on information sessions and an integrated ESRI map tool that lets users explore different considerations the working group is balancing. This is the first time we've integrated an ESRI map into a page on Yukon.ca.

Yukon tourism indicators dashboard

This dashboard launched this spring. It’s gives users a snapshot of key tourism indicators. You can use the dashboard to see industry trends, visitor estimates and other economic indicators. Visit the dashboard.

Water Board

Yukon Water Board staff launched their new website this spring. This website provides the public with access to apply for water licenses, legislation, rules and processes for water licenses, public engagements and information about the Yukon Water Board and Secretariat.

Yukon.ca

Yukon.ca fully migrated to Drupal 10 last December. We hold quarterly roadmap meetings to discuss citizen and departmental needs and categorize them into four groups: reconciliation, user experience, accessibility and technology. We're using the Yukon.ca Roadmap to inform improvements to the government website. At this time our focus is addressing issues on the French side of the website and some backend user needs.

Transactional services

Apply for economic development funding

The project team have recently launched a new fund management service for economic development. This will allow people to apply for funding and manage their applications in one place.

They’ve started with the Community Development Fund (Tier 2) so they can learn more before they add additional funds to the service. View the fund management system.

Yukon Home Owners Grant application

The team launched this service and ran it while they were taking applications over the spring and early summer.

Wildlife research permit application

This application is part of the forms pilot project. The idea is researchers can apply for a permit and the program staff can approve and issue the permit via the service. The program area are also testing this service on another platform to determine which will help them meet their business and user needs. We expect to have an update in the coming months.

Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR)

The Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR) houses the government’s public online registry services for business corporations, partnerships, societies, cooperative associations, sole proprietors and other businesses in the Yukon.

The project is to rebuild the registry. So far the team has completed and Discovery and Alpha assessments and they’re working at meeting the requirements.
