What services do we provide?

We provide services in your home community, including:

  • child welfare;
  • youth probation;
  • family services;
  • community support services; and
  • adult protection.

Child welfare

We provide:

  • identification of problems that cause family breakdown and child abuse or neglect;
  • action to prevent family breakdown and child abuse or neglect, including:
    • respite care for special needs children;
    • counselling services;
    • in-home support; and
    • support to services that improve family functioning;
  • investigation and assessment of reported child abuse or neglect;
  • protection of children by taking them into the care of the director, either by agreement with parents or by order of the territorial court;
  • adoption services;
  • services to children in care; and
  • recruitment and support of foster homes.

Youth probation

We help:

  • prepare pre-sentence reports, progress reports, reviews and undertakings;
  • support diversion and extrajudicial measures;
  • monitor and counsel youth; and
  • supervise community service orders.

Family services

We offer:

  • case management for people and their families;
  • alcohol and drug services referrals; and
  • supportive services for children and families.

Support for seniors and people with disabilities

We provide:

  • case management; and
  • help accessing services.

Adult protection services

We provide support for adults experiencing abuse, neglect or self-neglect who may be unable to seek help. 

We provide: 

  • protection; and 
  • support to be safe and secure.
