  1. Nominate someone for a Yukon Transportation Hall of Fame award

    The Yukon Transportation Hall of Fame honours people who've made a major contribution to the transportation industry in the Yukon. The Transportation Hall of Fame is located at the Yukon Transportation Museum in Whitehorse.

    Nominee eligibility

    • A person who's made a significant and memorable contribution to the transportation industry in the Yukon.
    • Can be living or recently deceased.

    Awards

    Transportation Pioneer of the Year award

    This award is given to someone who has made a major contribution to the transportation industry. This can include a closely-related activity that helped with the movement of goods or people in the Yukon.

    Transportation Person of the Year award

    This award is given to a person who, during their career, held a leadership role that moved the transportation industry forward as a whole or in specific areas. This includes policy, safety, education, enforcement, innovation and performance. This can include a closely-related activity that helped with the movement of goods or people in the Yukon.

    Order of Polaris award

    This award is given to individuals, groups or associations whose contributions to aviation include excellent service in the Yukon. They will have made a significant impact to the aviation industry. We will also consider nominations that include:

    • pilots;
    • engineers;
    • air crews;
    • ground support;
    • mechanics; and
    • designers.

    Groups or associations who have played an important role in opening up the North are also considered.

    Deadline

    Nominations will be accepted until December 31 every year.

    Award ceremony

    The awards will be presented to the recipients during National Transportation Week in the first week in June.
