The Arts Operating Funds (AOF) support arts operating and program costs for Yukon organizations.

There are two components of the funds:

  1. The annual operating component supports the operating costs of societies with on-going and year-round activities.
  2. The annual project component supports the costs of on-going, annual projects.

  1. Annual operating component

    The annual operating component supports arts operating and program costs of societies with on-going and year-round activities.

    Eligibility

    You can apply for annual operating funding if your group is an arts-focused non-profit society with on-going and year-round activities. The activities of the society must have a territory-wide impact (indicated by the numbers of individuals or communities involved).

    The society must be either: 

    • primarily engaged in literary, visual or performance arts activities, or
    • recognized as an umbrella arts organization.

    2. Submit your application:

    Funding decision process

    The Yukon Arts Advisory Council reviews the applications and makes funding recommendations to the Minister of Tourism and Culture for approval. Applicants receive notification of the results approximately 8 weeks after the intake.

    The total annual budget of both components is $825,000. This program is funded in partnership with Lotteries Yukon.

    The funding amounts distributed fluctuate from year-to-year depending on the number of applications we receive.

    Application deadline

    February 15 at 4:30 p.m.

    If this date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline moves to 4:30 p.m. on the next business day.

  2. Annual project component

    The annual project component supports groups with on-going, annual arts projects. 

    Eligibility

    Any groups with an arts-focused project that:

    • fosters the creative development of the arts in Yukon and supports the Yukon Arts Policy principles (see guidelines).
    • is arts-focused, including literary, visual or performing arts; and,
    • is an established annual activity that has occurred for at least three years.

    Eligible groups are:

    • Yukon non-profit societies,
    • First Nations,
    • school councils,
    • municipal governments,
    • local advisory councils, and
    • industry associations.
