MyYukon service launches

We’ve launched a new service called MyYukon today. MyYukon is the Government of Yukon’s identity management program. This is the government's first step to modernize how people access digital services.

How people access digital services now

We build digital services on a variety of platforms. Many of these platforms require people to create a login and password. By the time they renew their vehicle registration, buy a fishing license and pay their property taxes they might have 3 separate accounts. To access these accounts they have to remember 3 logins and passwords.

How people will access digital services with MyYukon in the future

Using a MyYukon account means people will have 1 secure login and password. For this initial launch, there are a few ways you can interact with the service.

  2. You'll use your MyYukon login when you access motor vehicles services like:
  3. If you use the Third Party Equipment Rental service you will have an option to create a MyYukon account.

We'll add many more services in the future. The idea is that essentially any government program or service that needs a login will use MyYukon.

The user experience

During this transition period we are working to make the user experience as seamless as possible.

When users access existing digital services

Users will create a MyYukon account when they access the digital services mentioned above. This means when they get to the service login page they:

  • are prompted to create a MyYukon account;
  • go through the account creation process;
  • return back to the login page; and
  • log in to access the service.

The added step of creating the MyYukon account interrupts the task they are there to do for the first visit, but this is offset by the benefit of only having one account moving forward.

Users who create their MyYukon account before accessing these services will avoid the additional step.

When users access new digital services

As we build new digital services with logins, they will use MyYukon. If people already have a MyYukon account they can log in. If they don't have an account, they can create it to access a variety of digital services.
