Access free counselling services in Yukon Communities

Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services provides a variety of free counselling, mental health nursing and support worker services to children, youth and families and adults. Services may include:

  • Rapid Access Counselling (within 24-72 hours of referral);
  • individual counselling;
  • group counselling;
  • drop in wellness groups;
  • support in accessing treatment options and withdrawal management services;
  • outreach services;
  •  harm reduction support and training; and
  • community support and education.

When is this counselling available?

This counselling is available Monday through Friday, and is available to all Yukoners experiencing challenges with their mental wellness and/or substance use. 

Access counselling

Phone us at 867-456-3838 to book an appointment or find out more about the local group programming happening in your community. The team works out of local schools, Health and Social offices and other community spaces. 

Community counselling services

Communities are served through Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services Community Hubs.

Carmacks Hub

The Carmacks hub staff provide services to Carmacks, Pelly Crossing, Ross River and Faro. 

Dawson City Hub

The Dawson City hub staff provide services to Dawson City and surrounding areas. 

Drop in counselling services are available at the Dawson City Health Centre Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. 

There are locally-staffed counselling services in Mayo, and a child, youth and family counsellor, and clinical counsellor who travel to Old Crow regularly.  

Haines Junction Hub

The Haines Junction hub staff provide services to Haines Junction, Burwash Landing, Destruction Bay and Beaver Creek. 

There are locally-staffed counselling, child, youth and families and support worker services in Carcross.

Watson Lake Hub

The Watson Lake hub staff provide services to Watson Lake and surrounding area.

Drop in counselling services are available at the Watson Lake Health Centre Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. 

There are also locally-staffed counselling and dedicated itinerant child, youth and family services in Teslin.
