Update information on your current driver's licence

Change your address

You are required by law to update the address on your driver’s licence. There is no charge to update this information.

  1. Go to a Motor Vehicles office and bring your current Yukon driver’s licence with you.
  2. Advise Motor Vehicles of your new address.
  3. Our staff will issue you a temporary licence, valid for 90 days. This card will reflect your current expiry date.
  4. Your new driver's licence will be printed within 3 business days and be mailed to you by Canada Post. The Canada Post delivery standard is 4-10 days. You should allow up to 4 weeks for delivery. 

Change your licence class and add restrictions or endorsements

We will update your licence class and add restrictions or endorsements free of charge. Contact a Yukon Motor Vehicles office for more information.

Change your name

  1. Go to a Motor Vehicles office and bring your current Yukon driver’s licence with you.
  2. Bring original paperwork demonstrating your legal name change. Note: Bring in your marriage certificate(s) or legal name change document(s) if your birth certificate, valid passport or permanent resident card does not reflect your current legal surname.
  3. Our staff will issue you a temporary licence that will be valid for 90 days. This card will reflect your current expiry date.
  4. Your new driver's licence will be printed within 3 business days and be mailed to you by Canada Post. The Canada Post delivery standard is 4-10 days. You should allow up to 4 weeks for delivery.
