Apply for a rebate for installing a heat pump in a new home

You could get a rebate when you install a heat-pump system in your new home. A heat pump:

Eligibility

  • The home is under 5 years old.
  • Air-source heat pumps must be listed by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships as cold climate.
  • Ducted systems must have a:
    • Region IV (Canada) heating season performance factor (HSPF) equal to or greater than 9; and
    • coefficient of performance (COP) at -15° Celsius equal to or greater than 1.75.
  • Non-ducted systems, also known as minisplits, must have a:
    • Region IV (Canada) heating season performance factor (HSPF) equal to or greater than 10; and
    • coefficient of performance (COP) at -15° Celsius equal to or greater than 1.75.
  • Ground-source heat pumps are ENERGY STAR® certified.

$1,500

Find out if you need to upgrade your electrical system

  1. Have an electrician confirm if your electrical panel and service line have enough space to add a heat pump.
  2. Call your utility (ATCO Electric Yukon or Yukon Energy Corporation) to determine if a service upgrade is required.
  3. Get a qualified electrician to complete the installation. Make sure to get a copy of the electrical inspection report.

Your receipts and invoices must be dated within 1 year of submitting your rebate application.
