Lease a heritage building

The Government of Yukon owns several signature heritage buildings. You can apply to lease one of them when opportunities are available. 

These buildings:

  • are historically significant with defining structural and architectural elements; 
  • are part of community identity; 
  • help communicate history to visitors and residents; and
  • are protected through historic site designations at national, territorial or local levels. 

Eligibility 

Lease applications are open to:

  • commercial businesses;
  • non-profit organizations; and
  • Indigenous government and organizations. 

How we’ll assess applications 

We’ll assess applications based on:

  • the suitability and proposed use of the building; and
  • its potential social, cultural, community and economic impact. 

Current lease opportunities 

You can apply to lease the Train Crew’s House 2 municipal historic site in Whitehorse. 

This building is:

  • 1 storey; and
  • 520 square feet.

How to apply 

You must:

  • complete the application package; and
  • attend 1 of the following tour and information meetings:
    • Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10 am; or
    • Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10 am. 

We’ll hold the meetings at Train Crew’s House 2 building, located at 1092 First Avenue in Whitehorse.

Submit your application by September 18, 2026, at 4 pm.
