Rebates for energy upgrades to commercial and institutional buildings

Eligible applicants

The following organizations may apply for funding:

  • First Nations governments and development corporations
  • Municipal governments
  • Non-profit and non-governmental organizations
  • For-profit enterprises
  • Crown corporations
  • Multi Unit Residential Building owners. Buildings must be larger than 600 square metres, with dwellings accessed by a common space such as a hallway or foyer

You can apply online for the following small-scale energy upgrades in commercial or institutional buildings: 

Large commercial projects

Funding is available for existing building projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and for low carbon heating systems in new buildings. To qualify, an energy model must be completed by an engineer or certified technician, showing how energy upgrades will reduce carbon consumption by 20 per cent or more. The funding amount is based on your building’s improved carbon performance. Email [email protected] for more information and to apply.

Funding amounts are determined by organization type and the amount of carbon reduced.

Low interest loan program:  

The Better Buildings Program provides access to upfront funding to support commercial energy projects.
