Apply for funding for community renewable energy projects

Yukon Development Corporation is helping to increase the supply of renewable energy and reduce diesel consumption in Yukon. The Innovative Renewable Energy Initiative provides funding for small-scale, community-led renewable energy projects.

Eligibility

Applicants

  • Municipal governments.
  • First Nation governments.
  • First Nation development corporations.
  • Community societies or associations.
  • Community-based businesses.

Projects

Your project must generate electrical or heat energy and be based in Yukon. It must also use proven technology from renewable sources such as:

  • photovoltaic solar panels;
  • solar thermal collectors;
  • wind turbines;
  • biomass;
  • gasification; and
  • run-of-river hydro.

We may give preference to projects that will lower greenhouse gas emissions. Eligibility and application to the fund does not guarantee acceptance.

Funding available

75% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $500,000 per project, whichever is less. Eligibility and application to the fund does not guarantee acceptance.
