  1. When to renew your declaration of business name

    You can renew your registration of a declaration of business name for a term of 3 years at any time within 3 months before the expiration date.

    • You cannot renew an expired business name.
    • If your business name expires, you must register your business name again.

  2. How to prepare your documents

    How to fill out the form

    The information you provide on the form must be legible. Also make sure to complete each section.

    Download and compete Form 10 ‒ Renewal of declaration of business name.

    Section 1: Business name

    The name must be the full name as registered.

    Section 2: Yukon registry number

    Include your Yukon registry number.

    Section 3: Dates

    Include both the date of the original date of declaration and the date of your last renewal. This information can be found on the renewal notice sent out. This information can also be found on a profile report on Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR).

    Section 4: Physical location of business

    Use this section to indicate the physical location of your business. Include any change of information.

    “Delivery address” refers to a physical location. Include an address or other description to identify a person’s home or place of business. This does not include a post office box.

    Section 5: Mailing address of business

    Use this section to indicate the mailing address for your business. Include any change of information.

    “Mailing address” refers to where you send mail. Include a complete mailing address, including the postal code. This address can be a person’s home, place of business or post office box.

    Section 6: Person using the business name

    If the business was registered under your personal name

    Fill out your:

    • last name;
    • first name; and
    • mailing address.

    When you’ve finished filling out the application, sign and date the form.

    If the business name was registered by an entity

    Fill in:

    • the name of the entity; and
    • its Yukon registry number (the entity must be registered).

    On the renewal, include your:

    • last name;
    • first name;
    • relationship to the entity; and
    • mailing address.

    When you’ve finished filling out the application, sign and date the form.

    If the address has changed

    If the address has changed, it may be updated on this form. All other changes must be filed on Form 9 – Notice of change of information in declaration of a business name and Form 8 – Declaration of a business name.


  3. Submit your documents and pay your fee

    After the form is completed, submit it along with the fee. The cost of filing a renewal of a declaration of business name is $25.

    How to pay

    You can pay by:

    • cheque;
    • credit card;
    • cash; or
    • debit card.

    Cheque

    Provide a cheque in the appropriate amount made out to Government of Yukon.

    Credit card

    We accept Visa, Master Card and American Express payment at the office. If you send your documents by fax, email or mail, provide a phone number where we can reach you. This is so you can give us your credit card information.

    Cash or debit

    Payment in cash or with a debit card can only be made in person at our office: 307 Black Street, 1st floor

    Deliver your documents to us

    You can drop off forms at our office or in our secure drop box in the lobby.

    When you put your forms in our secure drop box, you can include:

    • cash;
    • cheque; or
    • a payment information form to contact you for credit card payments.

  4. Renew online

    Renewing online

    You can also submit and pay for your renewal on the Yukon Corporate Online Registry (YCOR).

    Use the private filing key sent to you. You can find the key on the initial confirmation of registration of business name. The key will also be on the renewal notice sent out within the 3 months before the expiry date.

    How to renew online

    An account is not needed. Use the option to “Renew business name” as a guest. You will not be able to renew a business name if you’re logged into an account.

    1. Search for the business name or the corporate access number provided on the renewal letter.
    2. Under the “Filing” tab click “Submit”.
    3. Enter the private filing key (PFK) located on the renewal form mailed to the address of the business name.
    4. The available filings will show under "Filing name". Click on “Renewal of declaration of business name” to view the online form.
    5. Carefully review the information already on file. If the address has changed, it may be updated on this form. All other changes must be filed directly with Corporate Affairs with the following forms:
    6. Click “Save” and “Next” when the information is complete.
    7. Once you've confirmed all the information is correct on the renewal form, you'll be taken to the to the payment screen.
    8. Enter your payment information and click “Submit”.

  5. After we receive your documents and payment

    Processing time

    Renewing at our office

    After we've accepted and filed all your documents, you'll receive a confirmation. The process can take up to 5 business days.

    Renewing online

    A confirmation of the renewal can be printed or be emailed you. We will not be send confirmation in the mail for online renewals.
