Renewal period

The renewal period begins February 1. Apply for your renewal by March 1. This ensures we can process your licence before it expires on March 31.

It's illegal to work in the new licence year before we've renewed your licence.

Licence reinstatements

If you have not renewed your licence by March 31, contact our office for more information.

Processing time

We typically review applications within 30 business days. We'll confirm you've met all the legal requirements before we issue your licence.

We cannot process your application if you have not provided us with all the documentation we need.

A chiropractor licence allows you to:

  • use the title of doctor of chiropractic; and
  • work to the full extent of Yukon regulations.

Eligibility

You're eligible to renew a licence if:

  • you hold a current chiropractor licence for the Yukon; and
  • you've met all continuing competency requirements.

Continuing competency requirements

The Yukon’s Chiropractors Act requires chiropractors to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. You must do this by fulfilling annual continuing competency requirements. These include a specific number of continuing education and professional practice hours.

You can only claim hours in your renewal application that you completed in the 3-year period before you submit your application.

Requirements

You need:

  • At least 200 professional practice hours completed in the 2-year period before you submit your application.
  • At least 36 hours of continuing professional education (CE) in the 3-year period before you submit your application.
