The list is moving. Get on it.
More Yukoners are being matched with primary care providers as new doctors arrive and care capacity grows.
If you don’t have a regular family doctor or nurse practitioner, register with Find a Primary Care Provider. You need to be on the list to be matched.
Can I register?
You can register if you:
- have a valid Yukon Health Care Insurance Plan (YHCIP);
- are 16 or older;
- do not have a family doctor or nurse practitioner; and
- live in Whitehorse or the surrounding catchment area.
Catchment area
The Whitehorse catchment area includes addresses:
- in the City of Whitehorse;
- on the North Alaska Highway up to Champagne Landing;
- on the South Alaska Highway up to Jake's Corner;
- on the North Klondike Highway up to Braeburn; and
- on the South Klondike Highway up to Annie Lake Road.
This includes Marsh Lake, Mount Lorne, Ibex Valley, Mendenhall, Champagne Landing, Golden Horn, Braeburn, Pilot Mountain and other addresses within these boundaries.
Find a hospital or community health centre outside the Whitehorse area.
You can access sexual or reproductive health support and menopause health support in Whitehorse without a referral from a health care provider.
Register your household together
You can register your partner and dependents who live at the same address. Registering together means you can be matched with the same family doctor or nurse practitioner whenever possible.

Longitudinal care provides continuous, relationship-based care between a patient and health care provider over time. We created the Longitudinal Family Medicine Program to reinforce continuity of care, accountability and strengthen patient access to care.
Read the Memorandum of Agreement between the Government of Yukon and the Yukon Medical Association.
If your family doctor is part of this program, you may benefit from:
- greater access to same-day appointments for urgent, non-emergency needs;
- more consistent, ongoing care from your primary care provider; and
- improved coordination of your care over time.
Physicians in the program are required to:
- offer and advertise at least 2 same-day appointments for every day they’re in clinic;
- accept at least 10 new patients each year from the Find a Primary Care Provider list;
- maintain at least 500 patients; and
- provide ongoing, relationship-based care.
