There are 5 long-term care homes in Yukon. Birch Lodge, Copper Ridge Place, Thomson Centre and Whistle Bend Place are located in Whitehorse. McDonald Lodge provides care services in Dawson City.

Room and board for long-term care facilities in Yukon costs $1,217 per month, or $40 per day. Day charges will only be used if a resident stay is shorter than 1 month.
This fee does not include:
- telephone; or
- internet service.
Residents are also responsible for their own:
- incidentals; and
- some medications.

Residents may need an escort if family or friends cannot take them to medical, dental or other appointments. An escort can be provided for $50 plus any associated transport costs. Transportation could be the Whitehorse Handy Bus or a wheelchair-accessible taxi. The resident will pay these costs using their preferred method of payment.
Referrals for admission to long-term care can be accepted from any source. This can include:
- the applicant themselves;
- an applicant's family or caregiver; or
- an applicant's professional health-care provider.
Eligibility and admission
Referrals are screened for eligibility. Applicants are assessed before they're admitted into a long-term care home. To be eligible, applicants must:
- have a valid Yukon Health Care Insurance card;
- have an assessed need to live in long-term care; and
- be legally allowed to live in in Canada.
