  1. Who needs to apply for a liquor manufacturer's licence?

    In Yukon, if you want to produce beer, spirits or wine, you'll need a liquor manufacturer's licence. If you also want to sell the products you make directly to consumers, you'll also need a liquor manufacturer's retail licence.

    In addition to a Yukon liquor manufacturer's licence you'll need:

    • a Canada Revenue Agency liquor excise duty licence;
    • to meet all requirements of Canada's Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act and Spirit Drinks Trade Act; and
    • to meet all the requirements of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

  2. Do I apply for a separate licence for each alcohol product I make?

    Yes. You must apply for a separate licence for each product category you make. The product categories are wines, spirits and beer.


  3. Do I need a different licence to sell my products directly to the public?

    Yes. To sell your products directly to the public you need a liquor manufacturer's retail licence.


  4. What are the costs for a liquor manufacturer's licence?

    The non-refundable application fee is $150.

    The fee for a liquor manufacturer's licence is $200.

    The fee for a liquor manufacturer's retail licence is $150.


  5. What are the steps to apply for liquor manufacturer's licence?

    We recommended you submit the required federal licences, permits and approvals before you submit your Yukon liquor manufacturer's licence application. If the Yukon Liquor Board approves your application, it will not come into effect until all of the other licences, permits and approvals are in place.
