Apply for a commercial or large group recreation park permit

You will need this permit if you are: 

  • a commercial operator or an organization guiding recreational activities; or
  • a group of more than 12 undertaking recreational activities in a park.  

These recreation activities include but are not limited to:

  • hiking;
  • camping;
  • mountain biking;
  • paragliding or hang gliding;
  • horseback riding;
  • dog mushing;
  • canoeing or kayaking;
  • sport fishing;
  • skiing;
  • snowmobiling and;
  • wildlife viewing

Exceptions

You do not need this permit if you are a commercial operator or an organization guiding recreational activities if all of the following conditions are met.

  1. The activity is undertaken by an individual alone or as part of a group consisting of 12 or fewer individuals.
  2. The activity is undertaken in a recreation park, a day use area or a campground other than a backcountry campground.
  3. The activity is undertaken between 7 am and 9 pm.
  4. The activity is not more than four hours long.
  5. The activity is not undertaken on more than seven days in a row.
  6. The activity is not undertaken on more than 14 days within any 28-day period.
     

If you are a commercial operator you also need a wilderness tourism licence to work as a wilderness tourism operator in the Yukon, even if your activity does not require a park permit.
