Get your foreign credentials recognized to work in health care

We can help you access services to get your foreign credentials recognized to work in health care in the Yukon. The Foreign Credential Recognition Navigation Service is a pilot program.

Eligibility

You can use our Foreign Credential Recognition Navigation Service if you:

• are an internationally educated health professional; 
• reside in the Yukon;
• are legally entitled to work in Canada;
• do not yet have a license to practice in Canada; and
• demonstrate a commitment to practice in the Yukon within the next 2 years.

This service is intended to benefit those who can demonstrate a commitment to practicing and working in the Yukon. We may consider exceptions to the residency requirement on a case-by-case basis.

Services we offer

We can:

• provide information on:
  • regulated occupations; and
  • licensing requirements;
• provide one-on-one counselling, in-person in Whitehorse or remotely;
• conduct a professional needs assessment;
• create a personalized credential recognition action plan;
• refer you to:
  • regulatory bodies;
  • employment counselling services; and 
  • settlement service providers;
• connect you with:
  • workplace integration programs;
  • training opportunities; and
  • specific job postings, including from:
    • Government of Yukon; and
    • Yukon Hospital Corporation;
• help you build your resume and prepare for interviews;
• gather information from regulatory bodies and employers; and
• recommend funding towards specific costs to get your credentials recognized if you’re currently living in the Yukon. This may include funding for:
  • exams;
  • licensing;
  • credential assessments; and
  • training costs, including support for travel.
